Happy Mother's Day to all you fantastic mom's out there!
I am so happy to announce that I applied for a digital grant and have been awarded the honor to receive it. I will be using it to make my website even better, perhaps with a new look and feel. I will also be using it to get some awesome photos of myself/and product, to help promote my business. I wish to thank those who made this possible by giving me encouragement and support to apply. I want to thank Coastal Community Capital for sponsoring me in the process, Jean Mojo for bringing the grant to my attention and giving me the info to contact Coastal as well as all her and Uta Bamberger's encouragement. I also want to thank Tatsiana Greenberg for all her time in helping me figure out what I need for my website and my social media so I had knowledge of what to ask for in the grant. I want to thank Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation for creating the grant and for helping me to be awarded this fantastic opportunity to grow my business. Last but not least I wish to thank my husband Bert for putting up with me and giving me a push to go for it. The entire process was overwhelming, exhausting and exciting. Another new adventure is that I am in the process of starting to work with being a promoter or go between for some artisans and local businesses to host Pop-up events on the Cape. So if you know of any business looking to host a fun shopping event to give their clients something new and exciting, or to bring in a some new clientele to their business through networking with local artists, please have them contact me. Lastly This month I have two events happening right in the first week. I will be teaching a beginner jewelry class at the Cape Cod Museum of Art on May 6th 6-8pm. ![]() I am starting a fundraiser today that will go through Mother's day to help the poor people affected by the senseless conflict in Ukraine. I will be donating 20% of my regular sales and 40% of sales from the Sunflower for Peace collection directly to this worthy cause. I believe it's time to make a statement and help support the many innocent people. I feel terrible for both sides and I pray for an end to this impossible situation. If you wish to simply donate directly you can do that by clicking the Sunflower of Peace logo . Thank you. Peace, Dawn This little guy is my son when he was about seven. This was the time before he became aware of the fact that others were watching and judging him. Before he began to learn how cruel others could be when you were different then them. He was a happy go lucky kid, full of love and silly adventure. My son is now a wonderful thirteen year old and he is mostly reserved around new people and painfully aware of the judgement of others, he is finding his way like we all do with the growing pains of being a teen. He is still crazy but only around those closest to him. I love him dearly and I hope he finds his way eventually back to the wisdom of his early childhood, when the only thing that mattered was his own wisdom.
I wrote the words under his picture inspired by watching his journey and experiencing my own. I too am trying to find my way back to the wisdom of my child self. I also struggle looking within to find peace and calm in knowing who I am. I hope you enjoy my writing and that you find your own wisdom. Yes I know that is a very bold statement and many of you are probably freaking out and hating me at the moment, but hear me out.
Crystals are tools used in metaphysical healing. They are said to be helpful for every manner of ailments possible and they have a long history in ancient and modern healing practices. I have an enormous book dedicated to the study of crystal healing that I love and refer to often. I even have a blog series about many gemstones and their metaphysical and scientific properties. So I am no stranger to both. So what the heck do I mean when I say they do not heal you? Well here it is, science has done many, many studies and they have found that although all gems and all natural materials do vibrate, the frequency is far to low to create healing within our bodies on their own. What science has also found however, is that they are marvelous tools, conduits for the body to heal itself. You see we have energy too and we have the proven ability to heal ourselves in many ways. If we believe or have faith that something will work and that we will get better, we often do. We call this the placebo effect. It might be because we see a clear path on how to do all the right things to make our bodies heal. It might be because we seek out the right methods and medicines to help us. It may even be because we change our level of stress by focusing with intent, allowing our bodies to regenerate and heal. Gemstones help us to create all of these fields of energy, which in the end can heal us. They are a beautiful tool in our tool box to help us on a path to a happy and healthy place. They do this by creating focused energy in the right direction. In conclusion it is my hope that you know it is possible to use crystals to help you heal along with modern medicine and even to have faith in both without contradiction. It is also possible to simply enjoy the beauty of gemstones without the weight or need of metaphysical reasons. For is it not true that enjoying beauty and feeling beautiful can in and of itself be healing. May you have a healthy beautiful day! Dawn Rosell I know, I know this is a bold statement, but let me explain. As I stand in my ocean view Art Shanty every summer and a beautiful happy group of ladies browse my gemstone jewelry, I inevitably hear from one "Oh if only I had somewhere to wear these gorgeous pieces." I call bull right here, lol
For a very long time we have all been made to believe that jewelry should be a reflection of the event we are participating in, for example there is what we call work attire accessories, wedding accessories, going to kids events accessories, everyday accessories and so on. Now although I wouldn't wear super fancy or expensive piece of jewelry to the gym it isn't because of the style, it's because of the damage that can happen from your sweat and the comfort on your body as you move. I am a firm believer in the theory that you can wear jewelry that makes you feel amazing and special any old time you want. You are the most special occasion and reason there is to wear unique bold pendants to celebrate. It's just like that gorgeous dinner wear we all got on our wedding registry that sits in a closet only to be taken out on holidays for our guests enjoyment. I say NO, use those dishes every dang day for your enjoyment, you deserve it! So if you have a gorgeous piece of jewelry that you only wear for special occasions, or you see a unique piece of artisan jewelry you feel drawn to, I challenge you to wear it, buy it, celebrate you and just listen for all those compliments and see how amazing you feel! It's been a long time since I checked in with an update in a newsletter. Constantly keeping up with social media seems to have taken the need away, but it's time to catch up and end the year on a high note.

Mook Jasper, or Moukaite Jasper is a variety of Quartz, silicon dioxide mineral with a hexagonal system. Jasper is derived from the Greek work meaning "spotted stone" and can include up to 20% foreign materials, which accounts for the wide variety in colors and patterns. Mook jasper is found in Australia. The color of Mook jasper ranges from creamy white, mustard yellow and deep red to pink with black inclusions. It is a stunning display of color. This jasper hits the MOHS scale at 6.5-7 making it a harder stone.
Mook jasper covers all Chakra and represents the element of Earth like most jasper. Said to support liver health and detoxification. Encourages renewed hope, invigoration and energy. Helps overcome grief or depression. Facilitates deep connection to earth and nature. Reawakens ability to "know" which direction to go or travel in the physical and spiritual realm. Helps align the third and solar plexus to the root Chakra., allowing for intuitive perception. Honestly I fell in love with this stone for it's truly unique colors and how they almost seem to make me feel soft and relaxed, but has a very dramatic appearance. It's bold and yet calming and inviting. Wishing you a reawakening this week, Dawn Rosell Information gathered from Book of Stones, Wikipedia, Smithsonian Rock and Gem book. Sun stone called the sacred stone of the sun because of it's inner glow. The sun stone is actually an orange Labradorite. It is found in Oregon, United States, as well as India, Canada, Norway and Russia. The tiny plate like inclusion of hematite give it the shimmer making it look like a fire trapped inside. It comes in at a hardness of 6-6.5 on the MOHS scale.
Sun stone represents the 2nd Sexual/Creative and 3rd Solar plexus Chakra. Element is Fire of course. Said to warm the body increasing the metabolism, digestion and vitality and supporting the endocrine and reproductive systems. Encourages positive attitude and overcomes self doubt. Inspires responsibility, conviction and aids in prosperity. Sun stone is also great for those in leadership roles to feel confident and have mental clarity.
