Pietersite also known as Riebeckite or Brecciatted Tiger's eye is absolutely gorgeous and also very dangerous in it's raw form. This gorgeous stone like Tiger's eye and Hawks eye(the blue version) is made from a mineral called Blue crocidolite asbestos and is consider to be toxic to humans in it's raw form. However once it has been cut, polished and made for jewelry it is no longer a threat and is actually quite beneficial. This is actually true of many shells and gemstones in our world. Hope I didn't scare you,lol
Pietersite is basically a naturally occuring mix of both tiger's eye and hawks eye and it can look like a layer like in the raw stone above or in a manner which is more mixed ad swirled together like in the pendant example. It is a part of the quartz family and comes in at a 7 on the MOHS scale. A silicon dioxide mineral, it is mainly found in South Africa and China. Both the deep navy blue/grey and the golden brown have flash and it makes this stone just gorgeous. Pietersite represent the Solar plexis and the third eye chakra as well as the element of storm. Helps with insight, increases will power, precognition and self transformation. Also increases mental and physical energies. Brings about confidence and fearlessness. A highly spiritual stone that expands ones vision and awareness. Enhances clarity of thought and enlightenment. Seriously this is a very powerful stone, perhaps it can be a bit dangerous after all :) . I love the boldness of this stone in color and I am so drawn to the darkness and light that happen within it's variations. It feels like a push and pull of the two sides of each and everyone of us. The dark and light dancing into a beautiful being. I hope you enjoyed learning more about Pietersite and that you have a beautiful week. Lepidolite, I know, I know, I'm drooling too, This luscious purple stone is just gorgeous. Lepidolite comes in pinks and purple shades, as well as colorless, yellow, white and grey. Made of Potassium lithium aluminum silicate and coming in at a 2.5-3 on the hardness scale, it is a softer stone. This mica type stone is often found with quartz and tourmaline like in this gemstone pendant pictured above. It is Earth's most common lithium bearing mineral. Often found in Russia, Africa, Brazil, Greenland and the United States.
Element Lepidolite represents is water and it activates the throat, heart and third eye Chakra as well as the crown. Called the Grandmother stone because of it's opening of wisdom to inner peace. Lepidolite inspires serenity, helping to release stress and worry. Provides energy of enlightened awareness. Gently induces change to allow a smooth passage during the change. Calms frayed nerves and sets one on the path of willing acceptance. Claims to help insomnia and stress related issues. Lepidolite does take special care because it is a softer stone. Care is similar to an opal for cleaning with a soft cloth and storing separately from other pieces to protect it from scratching. And just like opal it is unique and worth owning. Beautiful and healing. I hope you enjoyed learning about Lepidolite. Wishing you a peaceful week Dawn Rosell Information sources: Book of Stones, Love is the earth, Smithsonian Rock and Gem book, Wikipedia. It occurs when the wood is invaded by minerals into the cavities and within the cells of the wood. It can be found as sections of a tree or entire trees. The organic matter gets imbued with silica preserving and fossilizing the wood into chalcedony and quartz and is iron rich. Palm root is from the Angiosperm trees found in the late Cretaceous period and is found world wide. It has a hardness of 6.5-7
Petrified wood can come in many shades of browns and some have rings while others have a more strand like appearances. These variations occur naturally depending on the species of tree. Palm root has a more strand like appearance with a dark layers and a creamy light area that gives it a beautiful contrast. Petrified wood represents the Root and Third eye Chakra. It is a Earth element. Palm root supports a gradual increase of strength and vitality. Encourages inner peace and patience. Opens awareness to the deep past. Palm root can help one advance on their quest for serenity and in the progression of one's destiny. Being an Earth element gives the stone a grounding effect. I personally love Palm root and petrified wood. In this form the stone is very dramatic to look at and represents the strength of the tree and yet the calm of such strength is very much grounding. It is a stone of relaxed confidence. I hope you enjoyed learning about the Palm root stone. Have a peaceful and beautiful week. I love this idea of course and I love this stone because it is such a pretty color. Some high quality specimens have a white flash within the structure giving it sparkle. Amazonite is a green-blue stone that has white and sometimes black variations in the structure. It is named after the Amazon River, but it can be found in Russia, and in the United States. It is a feldspar containing Potassium aluminum silicate. The structure is a plaid like structure with the crystals coming together at right angles. It is 6-6.5 on the hardness scale.
It represents the throat Chakra . A stone of truth, communication and harmony. Amazonite awakens compassion by stimulating the heart chakra. It helps to empower and brings harmony to us as well as between us and others. It helps us see our emotions without being overwhelmed or judgmental. Aids in focus, creates a space of being able to create what one truly wishes. I mean really, Amazonite is pretty awesome. To me it is the perfect representation of the warrior woman in us all. Creating all we dream and fighting with truth and compassion for ourselves and those around us. We are strong, resilient and beautiful. I hope you enjoyed today's mineral! Have a peaceful Day!
